This was my third trip to Dead Man’s Pass Ranch, and it won’t be my last.
I had some extra time on my hands and chose to spend it with the crew out there again and once more, they delivered. This hunt didn’t come easy. Neither of my target animals wanted to cooperate, and that’s just how it goes sometimes. Instead of forcing it, I pivoted, filled the cooler with great meat, and brought home something different for the wall. Still a win.
What truly sets this place apart is the people. From the cooks to the guides and everyone in between, it’s a solid, hardworking group that cares about doing things the right way and making sure guests have a great experience.
A huge part of that is Danny, the ranch manager. The animals he’s producing and managing are top notch. You can tell he puts real thought and effort into the herds, the land, and the overall quality of the ranch. It shows in every aspect of the operation.
One thing I can’t recommend enough is their shooting school. The instructors are outstanding, and I genuinely believe every hunter should go through it. It builds confidence, reinforces ethical shooting, and makes you a better, more prepared hunter plain and simple. Add in the skeet range and shooting black-light skeet at night, and it’s an absolute blast.
If you’re looking for a place with great people, great animals, and a well-run operation that values ethics and experience as much as results, Dead Man’s Pass Ranch is it. I’ll keep coming back.
