We want every one of our hunters to harvest the best meat-quality whitetail deer available, and that starts with careful planning and professional guidance. During your hunt, you’ll have the opportunity to harvest two whitetail deer—a combination of whitetail doe, spike, or cull buck, depending on what’s most appropriate for the health and balance of the herd at the time of your visit. These animals are selected specifically to maintain proper age structure, genetic quality, and overall population health.

Just like our trophy-class deer, all game at Dead Man’s Pass Ranch benefits from year-round supplemental feeding with high-quality proteins and mineral blends, ensuring that even our management and meat-class animals are healthy, well-conditioned, and yield excellent meat quality. South Texas venison is known for its lean, clean taste, and you’ll leave with a freezer full of nutritious, natural protein perfect for the grill or the kitchen.

Our ranch operates under a Level 3 Managed Lands Deer Permit (MLDP)—the highest level of whitetail deer management authorized by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. This program gives us the most flexible hunting seasons and bag limits in the state, allowing us to manage our herd more effectively while offering more hunting opportunities to our guests. While a valid Texas hunting license is still required, you are not required to use your license tags on deer harvested under the MLDP. That means county and statewide bag limits do not apply to individual hunters on our property.
