South Texas summers are known for their intense heat, which can take a toll on both wildlife and habitat. To combat these conditions, we’ve invested in a robust water management system that includes 25 water troughs and 7 dirt tanks distributed strategically across the ranch. These resources are vital to maintaining herd health and ensuring that our animals remain active, strong, and well-conditioned year-round.

Dead Man’s Pass Ranch operates under a Level 3 Managed Lands Deer Permit (MLDP)—the highest level of wildlife management issued by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. This permit gives us access to the most flexible hunting seasons and bag limits in the state, providing our hunters with expanded opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. A valid Texas hunting license is required, but you are not required to use your license tags for deer harvested under the MLDP. This means that statewide and county bag limits do not apply when hunting with us.
